Acura Repair in Miami
Japanese Auto Tech has repaired and maintained Acuras — the MDX, RDX, TLX, ILX, TL, and Integra — in Miami since 1998. Because Acura shares its engineering with Honda, our AATI-certified techs know these cars inside out, and every repair uses OEM parts backed by our 12-month / 12,000-mile warranty.

Common Acura issues we see in Miami
- A brief grinding or rattling noise for a second or two on cold start-up in K-series Acuras like the RDX, TSX, and ILX — usually a worn VTC actuator.
- Excessive oil consumption, fouled spark plugs, and misfires on J-series V6 models (MDX, TL) linked to the Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) system.
- Harsh, hesitant, or 'hunting' shifts from the 9-speed automatic in 2015-and-up TLX and MDX models — and outright failures on the older 5-speed V6 automatics.
- Whining power-steering pumps and weeping high-pressure hoses on higher-mileage TL and TSX sedans.
- Worn engine and transmission mounts causing a shudder at idle and a clunk when you accelerate, especially on the TL and TSX.
Japanese Auto Tech has kept Acuras running across Miami since 1998, and because Acura is Honda’s luxury division, these cars sit right in our wheelhouse. We diagnose, maintain, and repair the conventional systems on every popular Acura — the TLX, MDX, RDX, ILX, TL, TSX, RL, and Integra — using OEM parts and standing behind the work with our 12-month / 12,000-mile warranty.
What we service on your Acura
We handle nearly every mechanical and electrical system on your Acura:
- Engine repair and diagnostics — misfires, oil leaks, cooling problems, and timing components
- Scheduled maintenance — oil, filters, brake fluid, coolant, and the VTM-4 rear-differential service the MDX needs
- Brakes — pads, rotors, calipers, and fluid flushes
- Suspension and steering — struts, shocks, control arms, and worn bushings
- Tires — we sell and install tires sized for your Acura
- Air conditioning — a must in Miami’s heat and humidity
- Electrical — batteries, alternators, starters, sensors, and wiring
- Timing belts and water pumps on the J-series V6 engines
Staying on top of routine service is the cheapest repair you’ll ever make. Our scheduled maintenance keeps your Acura’s service history intact and catches small issues before they turn into big bills.
Which Acura models do we work on?
All of them. Acura shares most of its engines, transmissions, and platforms with Honda, so the parts, wear patterns, and fixes are second nature to our team. Here’s where we focus most by model:
| Model | What it needs from us |
|---|---|
| MDX | VTM-4 rear-differential service, timing belt & water pump on the V6, summer A/C care |
| RDX | Oil and turbo service (2019+), brake pads and rotors, scheduled maintenance |
| TLX | Transmission fluid service, brake-fluid flush, brakes and suspension |
| ILX | Oil and filter changes, brakes, battery testing for Miami heat |
| TL / TSX V6 | Timing belt & water pump, suspension bushings, A/C service |
| Integra | CVT or manual transmission service, turbo care, brakes |
Note that the four-cylinder TSX uses a timing chain, not a belt — the timing-belt service in that row applies to the V6 TSX and the V6 TL.
Why an independent Acura specialist beats the dealer
You get the same OEM parts and the same level of expertise without the dealer markup or the constant upsell. Because Acura and Honda are so closely related under the skin, a Japanese-make specialist often pinpoints the real fault faster — a stubborn check-engine light, for instance, that a general repair shop might chase in the wrong direction. You deal directly with the technician working on your car, you get an honest written estimate before anything is touched, and you keep a documented service history that protects your resale value. And to be clear: having us service your Acura does not void your factory warranty.
Miami is hard on Acuras
Stop-and-go traffic on US-1 and the 836 wears brakes and transmissions faster, year-round heat is brutal on A/C compressors and 12V batteries, and salt-laden coastal air speeds up corrosion on brake lines and electrical connectors. We factor Florida’s climate into every inspection, so the things that fail first in this environment get looked at first.
Don’t ignore the timing belt
Many V6 Acuras — the MDX, older TL and RL, and the CL — use a timing belt instead of a chain, and it’s replaced on an interval, generally around 100,000 miles or seven years. On these interference engines, a snapped belt can bend valves and ruin the engine. We replace the belt, water pump, and tensioner together with OEM parts. See our timing belt replacement page for what’s involved.

Frequently asked questions
How much does Acura repair cost in Miami?
It depends entirely on your model and what's actually wrong — an oil service is a fraction of the cost of a timing belt or a transmission repair. We inspect the car, diagnose the real cause, and give you a clear written estimate before any work begins, so there are no surprises. Call (305) 445-0948 and we'll walk you through it for your specific Acura.
Do you use genuine OEM Acura parts?
Yes. We use OEM parts matched to your exact Acura model so everything fits and performs the way the factory intended — and every repair is backed by our 12-month / 12,000-mile warranty.
Do I have to use the Acura dealer to keep my warranty valid?
No. Under the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, an independent shop like ours can perform your maintenance and repairs without voiding your factory warranty, as long as OEM parts and the correct procedures are used. We keep detailed records so your service history stays fully documented.
Do you service the Acura MDX Sport Hybrid or the electric ZDX?
We service the conventional systems on the MDX Sport Hybrid and RLX Sport Hybrid — gas engine, brakes, suspension, A/C, fluids, and 12V electrical — but not the high-voltage battery pack, electric drive motors, or inverter. We don't take in the battery-electric Acura ZDX at this time — we currently focus on conventional and hybrid vehicles, so for an all-electric Acura we'd point you to a dealer or EV specialist.
